eBook Sales Statistics
eBook sales are at the tipping point of going mainstream, with
significant increases in both publishing and sales across major
nations.
The IDPF reported April 2009 that wholesale ebook sales for January
2009, jumped 173 percent over the same period one year ago to $8.8
million. Wholesale ebook sales are forecasted to exceed $100 million
in 2009.
More importantly, the rate of growth in ebook sales is accelerating,
in spite of economic difficulties. Previous sales number show an
estimated 57 percent QonQ increase for Q1 2009 over Q4 2008.
Also note that retail sales are around double wholesale sales due
to mark up on wholesale pricing, meaning retail sales could reach
$300 million for 2009.
All in all, 2009 looks to be shaping up to be a fantastic year
for ebooks.
